Five Date Night Ideas | Marriage Matters

Michelle and I believe that building up that foundation of marriage is so extremely important. A strong foundation matters. Of course, trails and tribulation will come into your marriage, but when it does – you both will be able to stand together through it. Since we truly believe that marriage matters, we wanted to start off a new series on the blog! This corner of the blog will share our tips and experiences in creating a marriage that matters.

For kicking off this series, we are sharing with you our TOP favorite five date night ideas! Now we have tons of other ideas to share with you, but then this might be a little to lengthy! Let’s dive in!

1. If it is a warm summer day outside, but too hot to sit in the direct sunlight, take a beach blanket and place it underneath a shaded area! Jake and I love to do this once and week to read, get some fresh air, and to get away from our screens.

2. Create a date-night-out at home if you haven’t had much time together at home! This is so important, especially if you both work outside of the home. You can pick up your favorite dinner on the go (don’t forget a treat!) and watch your favorite movie together! Honestly, those are really the best date nights.

3. Jake and I really love to go to coffee shops to read, play a game, or even just to simply talk! This can be about our day, things going on in our lives, or planning the next big adventure! We also love to play games that involves us to really think such as Rummy 500 or Gin Rummy, Backgammon or Chess! It gets our brains working and off of our phones!

4. Take an evening walk with each other! Or if the morning works better for you both, take a morning walk! Or if you want to have a little fun while you are walking, either take a bike ride or play a round of putt-putt! A little competition never hurt anyone. 😉

5. Date night can even mean vacation time! If you or your spouse work in the corporate world, take a random Friday off and make it a three-day weekend! You can spend that time gardening, having an at home dinner date night or even make it into a spontaneous road trip!

Why? Why have set date night days?

Date night is SO extremely important! The most important tip to remember when having a date night is to shut off your phone, watch, computer, or anything that might distract you. This is truly time for you and your sweetheart to connect and grow into your relationship. Marriage truly matters and taking that time for each other is so so very important! So grab your honey & plan that date night!
