M&S HOLIDAY TRADITIONS THANKSGIVING EDITION

Personal

November 16, 2017

We just created a post talking all about how to prepare for the holidays, you can check it out HERE!

As our family is made up of Italians, it only safe to say that traditions are kind-of our niche/specialty. It is also very safe to say that we LOVE our holiday season. So what happens when you mix the two together? A half-Italian, holiday tradition obsessed family!

As the holidays are quickly approaching, we couldn’t resist not sharing some of our favorite traditions for Thanksgiving!

A Tradition Thanksgiving Meal

Thanksgiving Day is a day with delicious food overflowing from our plates! It has to include the stunning Turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, a rich gravy, and STUFFING. You read that right, stuffing! As a family from the North, stuffing is the only way for us to go! Jake and Christina’s family loves to cook dressing! Now here is the true question of Thanksgiving, do you like stuffing or dressing?

Christmas Music

Thanksgiving, of course, is the start to the holiday festivities. Now while we wait (some years) to listen to Christmas music, however this year we could not bake without them. On our local radio station, 99.5, the Christmas music begins to play around November 15-18th! We truly only listen to our Christmas music while we bake our holiday cookies for our Thanksgiving dinner. We save the rest of the Christmas celebrating (tree shopping and decorating) until after Thanksgiving!

Baking, Baking, Baking

The holiday cookies that we bake are chocolate chip cookies, Italian cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, and homemade rolled sugar cookies. This does not include the homemade pumpkin pie and pecan pie that Sara bakes each year! A little secret, Sara bakes one of the best pumpkin pies around…but doesn’t like pumpkin pie! Isn’t that too funny??

Secret Santa

It’s again, another Christmas tradition, but it is a Thanksgiving tradition to pick our Secret Santa name out! There are just two rules: you can’t pick your spouse and you can’t have the same person two years in a row.

“What Are You Most Thankful For This Year?”

At the end of our Thanksgiving dinner, someone will ask the question, “what are you most thankful for this year?” We all go around saying one thing to many things of what we are most thankful for. The last few years have left us all in tears, so we are hoping this year will be the same!

Now what are some of your favorite Thanksgiving Traditions?

PS: Next week, Sara and I will be taking off from the M&S Blog/Newsletter next week to enjoy the Thanksgivings with our families. We will still be on Instagram, so don’t forget to stop in a say hello there!
