Michelle and I know, as well as you do, that planning a wedding actually takes longer than the actual wedding day and it should be like that! More time should be put into it at the beginning so when your wedding day finally comes, it will run smoothly and every detail is how you’ve dreamed it to be.

However, planning a wedding is hard. Oh yes, we said it! Planning out the budget, the decor, the theme, the feeling, the venue, the photographer, the florist, etc…it is hard work! It is, however, also should and can be a joyous and fun time!

That is why Michelle and I wanted to take time out of our day to grab your attention, sit down with your favorite drink, and encourage you, the bride and groom, in the midst of your wedding planning process.

ONE

It is honestly one hundred percent okay to admit that wedding planning is HARD. When I, Sara, was a bride I was in the middle of graduating from UNC Chapel Hill, building a photography business with Michelle, moving into an apartment, AND planning a wedding. I will say that I have never slept so much in my life then I did on the honeymoon. Wedding planning is another job and no one will judge you for saying that planning a wedding is hard. Yet, don’t stay in that place of difficulty, ask for help! Search for a wedding planner who will help you and ask those family members who you trust to help you. It’s perfectly okay to ask for help and we can bet that your family and friends would be more than happy too!

TWO

When planning a wedding, there are A LOT of details. From the color of the table linens, to the plates, to the forks, down to how everything is placed. Let’s just say that can be overwhelming, right? Our advice for you when you feel overwhelming with all of the details? Just remember the real reason why you are doing all of this!

THREE

There might be a few hiccups at the wedding, but that is a-okay! You know why? Because you’re marrying the love of your life and that is all that matters! Our tip: hire a professional wedding planner, and professional vendors, and you might never find out about those little details!

FOUR

It might sound SO cliche, but it is true: enjoy every SINGLE moment of this season of engagement. There are truly so many wonderful moments that will transpire with those who love surrounding you. From dress shopping to telling my grandparents all about the details planned out. Since my wedding, I have lost two grandparents and an aunt. Jake and I have such wonderful memories about them and with them from the wedding that I cannot wait to share with my children one day.

FIVE

This goes all the way back to that wedding planning is stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! When you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or frustrated by the planning process – take a break! Take a step outside for some fresh air, take a night off from planning for a date night, or go grab a drink with some girlfriends! Taking a step away will help you so much, trust us!

Remember this is YOUR wedding day, you are marrying the love of your life, and that is what truly matters the most! We believe in you and we know that your wedding will be beautiful!
