Eight Simple Ways To Practice Self-Care Business/Personal

In a world that is ever for the hustle and bustle, it’s hard for us to slow down. How do we even slow down? Where do we even begin? It’s something that I (Sara) strongly encourage anyone working, including mothers who stay at home, to find a healthy work to life balance. You’ve probably seen our previous two posts (here and here) and work/life balance is extremely important to me. It is something that I truly try to practice and encourage others to practice!

If you’re new to this whole topic of work to life balance, let me explain! First, what is balance? Balance is “a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions.” -Google Dictionary I love how they define it by saying correct proportions between different elements! The elements that we’re discussing in this blog post are just two simple ones, your work, and your personal life!

Now on the two previous blog posts, we have shared many tips about how to try to create a work/life balance from the ground zero!

On this blog post, we wanted to dive into eight simple ways to practice self-care when finding your work/life balance!

But just a quick note – these self-care tips will be practiced out in different ways depending on who you are! If you are introvert/extroverted, how you define self-care, what fuels you up, or if you’re single or married with children. Take all (or some) of these tips and mold them into how they can serve you as you practice balance and self-care!

TAKE A LONG, WARM *NOT HOT* BATH

The most rewarding things at the end of a very long day, week, or month is to do a little at home spa day. If you’re anything like us, we are always on the go! It can be so crazy how much we are on the go, but taking a slow day to relax is perfect. The cherry on top? A nice, warm bath! Put on some candles, grab your favorite beverage, pop on a TV show (or go screen-less) with some soft music on and you’re set. Don’t also forget to grab your favorite bubble bath to pop in there!!

UNPLUG FOR A WHILE

Going screen-less is SO healthy for you – it gives your mind a chance to st0p inputting so much information and to just be! Going screen-less doesn’t mean you have to forgo a Podcast or music, but just to step away from all of the mindlessness and blue light that can be too much.

FILL YOUR SPACE WITH JOYFUL THINGS

Like flowers! Fresh flowers or plants are the BEST things ever honestly. But, if fresh flowers don’t do it for you, try something else! It can be something big or small, but just bring it into your space!

WRITE IT ALL DOWN

There are some days where our minds just WON’T stop going at 100 mph so we write it down. Grab a blank piece of paper and just write it ALL down. It doesn’t have to make sense or be cohesive, but just write it out to get it out of your head.

STRETCH

It may seem simple, and somewhat silly, but it’s SO beneficial to stretch those stiff or inactive muscles! It’s also a great thing to try to incorporate working out into your schedule because of all of the tension it will release!!

READ A BOOK, DO SOMETHING CREATIVE, OR WATCH YOUR FAVORITE RERUNS

Whichever you choose to do, don’t forget to light some of your favorite candles! If you read a book or do something creative, play some relaxing music! Our recommendation would be the Pride & Prejudice soundtrack! 😉

HAVE A LUNCH/DINNER DATE

This could be with your spouse, friend or family member! Or even by yourself! It goes back to having a quiet space to just let your mind and body relax, but it includes some of your favorite food!!!

TRY A NEW RECIPE OUT

My (Sara) husband, Jake, LOVES to cook. His favorite thing to do is to try new things out when he has a day off or needs to relax after a stressful day! Don’t care about cooking? This could translate into trying out something new in life! Haven’t had lunch by yourself? Do it!

What’s the first self-care practice that you’re going to try out?? Leave a comment below and let us know!
