How our anniversaries came to be just a day apart:
When Jake first proposed to Sara, the wedding date was the first to be discussed. It is only natural that the wedding planning would start off with the date. Their last final was around May 6th with graduation on Mother’s Day (May 11th). Of course, they didn’t want to wait too much longer to start married life, so they set the date for May 25th. My anniversary with Joe is on May 27th, only two days apart. So I asked Sara, “are you okay with our wedding anniversary only being two days apart?” “Of course I don’t mind!” she said, “do you mind that our wedding date is so close to yours?” I looked at Joe, we smiled and said, “not at all!”
Now every year we take time to celebrate our anniversaries at the end of May!
JAKE AND SARA
Everyone wants to know the story about how we met so I figured this was the perfect time to share all about it! Jake and I met on the first day of college. We had two classes together; Music Appreciation and English 102. He says that he noticed me right away – I completely noticed his beautiful curly afro! In all seriousness, I noticed Jake when on Friday he seemed like a normal 19-year-old and then on Monday he was on crutches! Over the weekend, his friend and he got into a car accident and he had to wear a brace to help heal his broken toes; because of that, I was able to open two doors for him.
After that, as the saying goes, the rest is history! We started dating November 6th, 2010, Jake proposed on his birthday (October 22nd) 2012, and we were married May 25th, 2014! Now we are celebrating our four year anniversary in WA and OR!
MICHELLE AND JOE
My husband, Joe, and I met when we worked together in Chicago, IL. He worked in the maintenance department and I was in the accounting office. When we first started dating, Joe would leave little surprises for me to find. This could be a Pepsi on my desk with a little note or a bouquet of flowers in the car. It was so sweet to find those sweet little surprises! Our favorite date night place was Gene and Jude’s; which was a hole in the wall hotdog joint. This is still one of our favorite places to go to when we visit family in Chi-town! We also loved to take long car rides down Lakeshore drive in Chicago, IL after work.
