Do you take the time to invest IN your business not ON your business?
Someone asked, “what’s the difference?”
Investing ON your business is what you have to do on the outside of your business. For example: business taxes, finding a CPA, etc.
Investing IN your business is what you do on the inside of your business. For example: purchasing education, business workshops, etc.
There is a HUGE different between investing (or working) on your business and in your business. However, in the small business world, we tend to lean towards the investing ON our business rather than invest IN our business.
A business is a job that (we bet) you LOVE and it is something that you need to
If you do, how do you do it? If you’re curious, we are giving you our FIVE biggest tips when it comes to investing IN your business.
ONE
Find yourself an amazing mentor – someone who you connect with, who is advanced in their business, and you feel as if they can help you in the future. It was critical that we found a mentor during the time of our re-brand in the middle of last year. Lauren, of Lauren Carnes Photography, was an amazing asset to our building blocks for the next stage of our business. A mentor offers guidance, encouragement, and a friend who understands where you stand currently.
TWO
Invest in (at least) one in person conference or workshop a YEAR. Education, in the small business world, is very vast now of days. You can head on over to blogs, or search Pinterest, or watch videos on Youtube…the education platform is endless! However, there is something so wonderful, so encouraging, so uplifting about an in person workshop. It gives you that time away from the office to really work IN your business.
THREE
Create a strong (and maybe simple) workflow system. It doesn’t matter if you use Honeybook, 17 Hats, Dubsado, Trello…whatever system that you put into place, use it well! Set the system up so that you can effectively and efficiently. This investment is something that is so important for the long term function of your business!
FOUR
Set healthy work and life boundaries! This is probably the biggest investment that you could EVER make in your business. While most would consider this an “on”, we consider it as an “in.” Why? Because if you don’t invest in good, healthy, and important work-life boundaries then that work will over take your life. It is so true, believe us! Take the time to invest into a podcast, a audio book, and regular paperback book just for your enjoyment. You won’t regret it!
FIVE
Create a mastermind group with incredibly strong, amazing women (and men) who are just as passionate about their business as you are with yours. We cannot begin to express how wonderful it feels when we receive in a message from our MM group wishing us a good day or checking in on us. Investing time, encouragement, and energy into others businesses AND lives will bless you so so much.
