Blushing brides, it is time that we talk about Bridal portraits. Bridal portraits are very traditional to the southern areas such as NC, SC, GA, TN, and VA. No matter what region that you do live in, we always receive the question of “is a Bridal portrait really important to add on?” Over many years of photographing bridal portraits, Sara and I have to say that the answer is yes, but why? Well today, we are going to take you through four reasons why you should add on a bridal portrait onto your wedding experience!
However, we must cover a topic that we truly feel so strongly about…we believe that you should not trade out your engagement session for a bridal session! Sara and I always include an engagement session in our Romantic Wedding Experience for multiple reasons! They are (one) a wonderful excuse to have a quiet date night afterwards! You’re already dressed up and out, go hit the town for a little one-on-one time!
Two, it helps you (and your fiance) to get comfortable in front of not only one camera, but two cameras! Three, during your e-session, we teach you a lot about how to “pose” to look beautiful and natural in front of the camera without feeling stiff and posed! The last point is an e-sessions prepares you for: how we work together with you, how to seriously rock out your couple session in no time at all, and to help you feel SUPER confident on the wedding day being in front of the cameras.
Now that is all set, back on to the topic of bridal portraits and why you would include them!
ONE
A bridal portrait truly does get out all of your nerves of seeing yourself all done up. Most brides only dream about what everything will look like together on the actual wedding day and with a bridal you get to trial run of EVERYTHING. The hair, the makeup, the bouquet, the dress, the jewelry – every single piece you get to test to see if you LOVE it before the wedding day. Of course this includes having trial runs of everything, but this will help you see it all together!
ONE, PART TWO
This also give you a chance to change anything so that it is exactly how you would like it to be!
TWO
When you have a bridal portrait, you can really take your time when photographing the dress. This includes ALL of the details, having variety in your portrait, and just simply having more photographs of you in your dress! While we always get a few on your wedding day, but it is nothing compared to how many you can get with a bridal portrait.
THREE
Typically the mother of the bride usually adds on the bridal portrait to her daughter as a gift so this is a great way to give back to mom! You can have a print made to hang in her house or one to sit on her nightstand. While you’re printing a photo for her, why don’t you grab one for the reception table! Oh, maybe one or two from the engagement session too!
FOUR
It gives you an ideal time frame of how long it will take you to get into your dress with out the time pressure of a wedding day! This can translate over into your hair and makeup trial! That way you can give yourself plenty of time on your wedding day timeline.
