October 15, 2020
Whew, August and September have been two crazy months for us! We’ve had weddings, lifestyle sessions (follow us on IG for future updates about that!), and branding sessions/headshot refreshes everywhere! Now as we begin October (where has 2020 gone?!), we’re starting to finish off our session by enjoying a holiday break (more about this in a future post!).
But, for today’s post, we want to chat all about creating a blogging calendar that you can be proud of! Trust us, after almost 5 years of blogging full time and an extra several part-time blogging, it can be tough. What do I create? How much of what do I create? In what order? Is this enough? How much time does it take? Will it really help my SEO?
We have an article talking all about the Five Building Blocks for Blogging Beginners which you can read by clicking on the link!
In today’s blogging article, we’re sharing our top four tips on how you can create a blogging calendar that is easy peasy.
#1 Prepare a calendar in 3-month blocks: January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December
Why? For several reasons: the seasons (if you are a weddings based blog then this would be great for educational content), you’re not getting too far ahead, and it can be overwhelming to plan whole years’ worth of content for it then to change. We now use a system called Monday that we do in their own sections with the ability to comment, check off, and date stamp the expected due date of an article.
#2 Leave room for shifts
Yes, you read that right. We always leave one article spot open for changes because you just never know what may pop up! Or you might not get a blog post out on your set time so you need to move things around.
#3 Poll your followers on SM
We love to use IG polls for so many things, but the best thing is seeing what people are interested in as far as topics go!
#4 Batch your workload
It is easier to write one day then create your article photographs another day. Our tip is writing similar articles on one day and have it marked off.
And that’s it!! Remember to start off small and work towards the goal you want to hit!! Have fun and happy blogging!
