She said yes!!
Getting engaged to the love of your life is beyond exciting and joyful time! It’s a season that Michelle and I both remember and cherish so much. The season of engagement, whether short or long, is one that you will keep forever! And Glen’s proposal to Katie at the JC Raulston Arboretum will fall right into that beautiful box of memories! For us, it really was high up on the best thing ever list! Why? Because Glen is best friends with my husband, Jake! So having the chance to photograph a dear friends proposal is a true once-in-a-life experience!
It took months of planning out the perfect place, planning for the perfect time, and making sure that Katie couldn’t ever guess what was about to happen! How did this day come to be? Michelle and I had just received our cameras back in from cleaning and we truly did have some poses that we wanted to work on. After mentioning this to Glen, he thought it was the best scenario to lay the foundation to the proposal. I sent a group text asking if they would love to have a free couple session to test our cameras after their cleaning and work out a few poses we’ve wanted to try. After getting the confirming yes, we set a date, May 4th.
Glen received the ring in and time felt to tick by so slowly! He truly wanted to propose to her before she graduates from Campbell University, the very next weekend! Once the week of the proposal hit, Glen was so ready!! We came up with the final plans of outfits, the secret code between us and just to be ready for anything to happen! May 4th came, and by the graciousness of the Lord, He granted us a rain-free afternoon! We started off the session, fighting the prom goers trying to get their photographs, and it was a blast! We enjoyed the beautiful blooms of the arboretum, talked about Katie’s schooling, and had the best time enjoying the “couple session”! Katie had us laughing so hard during one point that we ended up not breathing for a quick second!
The Proposal:
We found a private little cove right beside the rose garden and we gave Glen the secret code. He whispered in her ear those magical words and got down on one knee! In pure shock, Katie couldn’t believe it!! She started to cry and she kept saying “no way!” With tears of joy streaming down her face and laughter ringing out of her, Katie said yes!
Whew, looking back over these photographs just brings our hearts so much joy!! We still remember it happening and I, Sara, couldn’t help myself from crying happiness! Glen, thank you for letting us be a part of your special moment with Katie!
