DIY TABLE MAKEOVER

Sara’s Mini Series: DIY Table Makeover

When I always dreamed of having a home I thought I would buy every single thing from IKEA. I am completely serious!!! I had a wish list on my internet browser staring all of the wonderful things that I wanted to put in my house! Yet, have you looked at those prices that are on IKEA???…It isn’t cheap at all…so I start to think how am I going to own a house AND furnish it with all the beautiful things my head dreamed of WITHOUT breaking my bank?? Well I will at least tell you this tip, when you are moving, bring EVERYTHING. I know there was a lot of things I got rid of after I moved, but it was helpful to see! Why? Because you did originally spend money on that, it is worth to see if it will work in your new place. If it doesn’t then bring it over to your nearest thrift store! Jake and I did that and it helped SO much!

Not only did we bring a lot of things over, we did thrift a lot of it too, we also have (and still are doing) A LOT of DIY crafts! This is finding old picture frames, painting them, and reusing them! Even ones that are different shapes and sizes! Non-matchy is sometimes just the way to go! 🙂 You can also reupholster seats or find pillow covers! There are so many different ways that you can DIY old things to make them look and feel brand new!!! My latest two projects for the house has been the dinning room table and the front hallways table!

First, the dinning table!! Let me just say, WHOA. This is a huge transformation!! This all started off when my brother called me one day and told me he was thinking of getting rid of his dinning table. This table was from my grandmothers house for since I can remember! Yet when Matt brought it over to me…it needed an update! Time to grab the spray paint and a trip to Hobby Lobby!! I purchased 6 cans of spray paint and I used 4 1/2 cans! I also bought a gallon worth of blank satin paint from Lowes, but that was for painting the table with all the small details! Watch it transform!!!

The living room has been my one area that I am having the hardest time with…where to place the couches, where to put my china cabinet, what do I replace it with, do I hang pictures…and where, and do I even dare to put up shelving units?! These all have been in my head since we have moved it and got the couches in…and finally last Saturday we did something about! Jake and I rarely get to spend all of our day Saturday together and when we are able to…it is like AMAZING and SO productive! That is exact what happened, we both had the whole day to do everything we have been desiring to do! Our Saturday included breakfast out, stopping by my parents house, grabbing my grandmothers old desk, eating lunch with them and my niece, stopping by Lowes to pick up pots/dirt/& herbs, then working at the house on the table, gardening, and cleaning out moving boxes from the guest bedroom! Whoa! But enough of me rambling on about what Jake and I…onto the table!!
