Wedding Invitations & Why They Are So Important!

The Educated Bride

January 31, 2017

Invitations. Invitations, Invitations!

“Your invitation suite is the first glimpse your guest has into your wedding!”

Never has a statement rang more true! I always believe invitations were just stunning pieces, but when it comes to your wedding…they are SO priceless! When we receive wedding invitations in for our bride and grooms, it truly gives us the first glimpse into their wedding.  To see which details, which type, which paper, which colors that are chosen! We promise that every CENT you spend in creating these beauty is completely worth it! That is why we wanted to bring you some of the top tips when it comes to creating and planning out your invitations!

  1. Know Your Colors: you may want to incorporate your colors into your wedding invitations/wedding suite! While ivory, cream or white card stock with black or gold lettering is a classic pair – you may want add a pop of colorful envelope liner or fonts!
  2. Play With The Shape Size: the typical wedding invitation is a 4.5 inch by 6.25 inch rectangular card, however you can change this up! You could always be creative with the sizing! One invitation they turned into a scroll! Just beware that this could change the cost of sending drastically.
  3. Don’t Crowd The Card: we do that you might want to put a TON of things on the invitation, but trying to squeeze too much on the card can make it difficult to read and it might not achieve your desired look!
  4. Start Early: save-the-date cards should go out between six to eight months before the wedding! Along with that you should aim to order your invitations about four to fix months out so they are ready to mail six to eight weeks before the wedding. The timing of this will change depending on destination weddings or a big holiday wedding! The earlier you can get started on it the better!
  5. Get Your Envelopes Early; Have A Pro Address Them: getting a calligrapher to print the addresses on your envelopes is something we really highly recommend! It creates a beautiful look and makes an elegant first impression!
