A Childhood Tradition | Personal

“Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, beauty and the beast…”

As a mother you never seem to forget those moments in your child’s life. You remember those moments of when they first started to crawl, to walk, and to run. How they go from cuddles on the couch to being an adult. My favorite memories where those moments cuddled up watching some of those classic Disney movies. Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin were all of Sara’s favorites!

In 1991, Beauty and the Beast came out to theaters everywhere and in the middle of 1992 Sara was born. I remember when we moved to North Carolina in 1995, Sara was only 3 years old and Matthew was 5 years old. While Matthew was off to school, I would spend some mother and daughter time together with Sara.

Sara loved dressing up, playing with her million stuffed animals, and watching all those classics. She would sing from her heart while she twirled around the room with the movies playing on in the background! Yet, there were those other moments where we would cuddle on the couch and watch the movie on repeat. My favorite memory is my mother (Sara’s grandmother) sitting on the floor with Sara in her lap watching Beauty and the Beast. Gosh just thinking about it makes me tear up a bit! Now, the number of times that we would watch this movie is actually uncountable!

It was those classic movies that we fell in love with. The twirling dresses, the magical songs that made you feel alive, and the dreams that these movies could give you! It made us both a little teary eyed when we went to watch the new 2017 Beauty and the Beast! Throughout the whole movie we would tap each other, nudge one another, or even look at the other. By the end of the movie we had smiled so much our jaws were hurting! The movie was astounding, the songs were spot on, and we are dying to see it again. The movie tickets $14.00, popcorn & drink $9.48, us seeing the movie together… priceless.
