FLOWER TRENDS 20161

A Guest Blogger, Michael, From Flowers by Gary Discussing Flower Trends!

Every wedding is completely different and unique!  From the wedding dress, to the color scheme, and even to the last flower in the bridal bouquet! We adore seeing the many different themes between each wedding. How romantic is it with weddings now having beautiful blush and cream tones?! Throughout the last of 2015 and the start of 2016 wedding season, we have see a lot of cream and blush tones appear in weddings! Micheal, from Flowers by Gary of Durham, has seen many of their brides going this way for their wedding bouquets in 2016.

Micheal and Gary are two dear friends of ours who are just fabulous florist! We adore having a really great friendship with them, but also working together at a wedding! We asked Micheal to give our lovely readers a treat for the upcoming 2016 wedding season flower trends and tips when planning/dreaming of your bridal bouquets! We are also sharing why it is so important to have a florist as part of your vendor list at your wedding!

“Couples today are planning weddings that showcase who they are as individuals and as a couple,” said Micheal. Couples do not want to create someone else wedding., instead they are wanting to create a uniqueness for them. Which adds so much to your already gorgeous day!

Micheal stated that,  “Our couples are focusing on the quality of style and simplicity by opting for family style very long dining tables or a mix of long tables surrounded by smaller square and round guest tables, and are moving away from reception layouts based on large round tables all the same size, which has a “conference event” feel.”

With the mixture of tables it allows Micheal and Gary to create for their brides, a low and lush free-form arrangements! These often include a mixture of big and small blossoms in more than one color with a variety of vine foliage to serve as exclamation points. Trust us, it is elegant and STUNNING.

Along with the more delicate colors of blush and cream, what bouquets can we expect to see upcoming? “Brides are preferring to mix-up the bouquets and centerpieces, using the same colors but different design styles to accent the different table sizes and shapes,” Micheal said.

“We are not seeing brides wanting the same for all their attendants or the same on every table at the reception. The colors we are seeing most are, blush and creams with lots of candles of various sizes. We are seeing at both relaxed and formal affairs, “naked” cakes which are UN-frosted or partially frosted and simply adorned with flowers.”
