Happy New Year, friends! 2021 is finally here and there is a buzz in the air — a hopeful buzz.
Back in October we decided to take the whole month of December off of blogging, which isn’t normally like us, but with a year that was filled with a LOT of noise – we decided that we needed the unplugged break. And goodness was it worth it! We are currently back and feeling better than ever! We are creating a ton of content that is coming to the M&S blog soon!
There are many thoughts that we all have towards 2020 and with those thoughts come a lot of different feelings. The year gave us two and a half months before everything came to a halt. Our hustle and bustle lives came to a stop.
It brought a lot of difficulty into so many lives, but it also brought a lot of us so many good things. Growth about ourselves/our relationships, learned about many new things (like bread making!), and actually found rest.
We have to say that 2020 was, overall, an amazing year for us. Of course we had our hard moments sprinkled throughout the year, but we are choosing to focus on the good ones. And choosing is the right word there.
We are choosing to focus on the positive, the growth, the celebrations — even if they didn’t look normal or “traditional.”
Choosing to, despite not having professional photographs or the grandparents allowed in, celebrate the birth of Sara’s son and watch him grow!
We choose to celebrate love with our amazing couples who decided to continue on with their wedding plans. (A 2020 in review: business is coming soon!!) We also choose to celebrate new parts of our business such as branding and lifestyle sessions and because of YOU, we celebrated that.
Choosing to love on our homes that we *somewhat* neglected to care for. We organized, we baked, and we painted; finding to be intentional with our relationships — more so than before.
We are choosing to view 2020 as a year of positive moments and to give ourselves the grace we need in those days where it was really needed.

1/20: rang in the new year
2/20: M hosted S’s (freakin’ amazing) baby shower
3/20: Theodore Henry was born
4/20: new born life/M came over a lot to help
5/20: celebrated our wedding anniversaries
6/20: we were wedding guest at a friends wedding!
7/20: did a work trip which we brought all of the boys with too/celebrated S’ birthday
8/20: kept everything low-key & had a ton of work to catch up on/plan
9/20: celebrated M’s birthday!
10/20: S took a personal trip to Wilmington, NC!
11/20: M took a personal trip to Asheville, NC and Charleston, SC — and we celebrated Thanksgiving sort of together
12/20: celebrated Christmas and the new year to come!
While we know it wasn’t the best year – and maybe you had a harder year than others, just remember this – you are here and you are okay. Try, if anything, to find something that was good even if it was just for a moment.
